The Department of Anthropology at UVic offers undergraduate and graduate training that is comprehensive, diverse, integrated, and innovative. Our faculty members are committed to excellence in teaching and research, and to working collaboratively with diverse communities both locally and globally.

Undergraduate Training

We provide undergraduate students with a foundation in the major subfields of anthropology, including biological, socio-cultural, and archaeological anthropology. We aim to provide a broad knowledge base for students who want to apply anthropology to their career area and for those who want to continue in anthropology at the graduate level. Undergraduate students in our department choose from a wide array of interesting courses—everything from primatology to palaeolithic art to medical anthropology to ethnographic film-making to zooarchaeology and more. Our courses offer lots of opportunity for discussion, experiential/participatory learning, and contact with faculty.

Graduate Training

Graduate training in Anthropology at UVic continues the department's excellence in building knowledge that is holistic, diverse, and integrated.
