Canadian Zooarchaeology

Canadian Zooarchaeology (CZ) is a newsletter/journal first published in 1992 by Dr. Kathlyn Stewart of the Canadian Museum of Nature. It has provided a forum for those interested in the analysis and interpretation of archaeological faunal assemblages in Canada.

Because many Canadian zooarchaeologists work in other regions of the world, CZ has expanded its geographic scope to address issues of global interest among faunal analysts. Since 2005, it has been produced by the Department of Anthropology at the University of Victoria, with Kathy Stewart, Becky Wigen and Yin Lam as editors and with financial support from the Office of the Dean of Social Sciences.

CZ publishes research reports and peer-reviewed research articles, as well as news, letters, conference reports and book reviews. Articles are published in English or French.
